Jackie supported us in a 12-month project with focus on strategy, processes, organisational and system transformation at a leading Hospital chain in the Middle East.

Based on her deep understanding of hospital processes and her hands-on mindset as well as her ability to interact with hospital management and personnel on eye-level, we managed to deliver an excellent project.

I am very much looking forward to working with Jackie on further exciting opportunities.’

Robert D Toole, Chief Finance Officer, Worcestershire Hospitals NHS Trust

Jackie Pomroy Consultancy Ltd undertook a Supply Chain and Materials Handling review across the 3 Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust sites in early 2020. Noting this work, previous experience at other Trust’s and recognising Jackie’s individual depth of knowledge, style, ability to engage and build confidence with the team and stakeholders at all levels, JPC Ltd  was asked at the commencement of the COVID19 Lockdown to provide critical oversight  across the Trust. This was essential support to the Trust Procurement and Supply Chain Team including all 3rd (PFI) parties in managing the PPE and BAU supply chain during the COVID -19 pandemic.

This work included implementing standardised robust processes and controls across the 3 sites to include clear communication channels between the Clinical Teams; Procurement Teams (in-house & PFI); Senior Management Team; the COVID-19 command centre; and external regional and national NHS bodies, providing assurance and clarity of processes in place and creating  SOPs.  Some of the additional outputs included:

  • Working with the Procurement and Supply Chain, Finance and IT Teams to simplify and automate the required daily clinical manual stocktake processes into existing Trust systems, model daily consumption of PPE Inventory and forecast future requirements.
  • Develop an external sourcing model with the Procurement and Supply Chain Team to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Overseeing the implementation of the Headquarters Joint Military Command West Midlands – Supply PPE Findings & Recommendations.
  • Advising on reorganisation, layout and labelling of the PPE and bulk store.

Jackies professionalism, expertise and wealth of knowledge provided great support at a most challenging of times giving the team’s breathing space and a structure to work with enabling a 7/7 day service with no PPE stock-outs and a reliable supply chain. It also has provided them with the confidence and encouragement to take the service forward creating their own future supply chain transformation plan which will improve effectiveness, efficiency and cost of service delivery.

Gary Welch, Director of Procurement and Supply Chain, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

‘We sought Jackie’s help to provide support to the Supply Chain Transformation programme and to provide technical expertise and knowledge within the Project Team. Inventory Management systems and process are relatively new to the NHS and it was invaluable to have someone on the project who had already been through such a transformation – using that experience to advise and to challenge the team to ensure the best outcomes for OUH and our patients.

With her depth of supply chain knowledge, Jackie has made numerous insightful observations and recommendations that have changed our current working practices to enable us to work towards best practice. She has provided training and guidance to the Supply Chain Team and promoted and encouraged continuous improvement and learning as an ethos.’

Debra Matthews, Theatre Manager, Spire Healthcare Southampton

‘Having inherited an out of date and broken supply chain service with poor storage and layout, overstocking with the risk of obsolescence with ordering and delivery issues and a clinical team having to work from day to day in terms of planning , we had to get something done. We had to address all of this in addition to the cultural issues that affect both the theatre and supply chain teams and prevent them from co-operating and working together.

We commissioned Jackie to carry out a service review. She delivered a clear and informative report with recommendations, which got to the heart of the cultural issues, described the difficulties that are experienced across the service by both the clinical and supply chain teams and offered solutions. I would recommend Jackie because she provides a personal and tailored service with exceptional attention to detail and a depth of understanding drawn from hands on practical experience that shines through in all her work.’

Louise Brereton, Head of Procurement and Logistics, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

‘We wanted an external assessment of our current supply chain processes, including those sitting outside of our department, allowing us to redesign the internal supply chain prior to implementing an inventory management system. The recommendations made within the report have initiated useful conversations within the Trust about the level of clinical time being spent on supply chain activity and a roadmap of development has been created for the Logistics Team, to increase the scope of the service offering.

I have already recommended Jackie, having worked in the NHS she brings an in-depth knowledge and a real understanding of the challenges we face whilst using industry best practice to offer achievable solutions.’

Jane Hawkes, Assistant Director Procurement & Supplies & Scan4Safety Programme Lead, North Tees and Hartlepool Solutions LLP

‘The trust became a Scan4safety demonstrator site in January 2016 and the focus was rolling out GS1 standards and an inventory management system. Two years on, due to time and resource constraints, we had not realised all that we had set out to achieve and the full functionality and capability was yet to be realised. We asked Jackie to carry out an assessment, of the Inventory Management System, it’s capability and functionality and that of the service provided by the Supply Chain Team. This provided us with an accurate current state assessment, a development plan and benefits realisation review.

Since the initial assessment we have engaged Jackie to assist with a full-service redesign. Jackie has been on site and developed, along with the team, a detailed plan to transform the provision of the service. The team have now undertaken Supply Chain Management training provided by Jackie, incorporating real life experience.
From having an unfocused demotivated team, they now have the knowledge, tools and focus with clear leadership to deliver their roles and service improvements.

I highly recommend to any organisation, not just healthcare providers, to engage with Jackie Pomroy Consultancy to help optimise your supply chain, teams, systems and processes.’

Vanessa Jinks, Associate Director of Procurement, Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust

‘Recognising numerous inefficiencies in its Supply Chain and Materials Management having changed little in 20 years, with a high incidence of clinical staff spending considerable amounts of time ordering “non-stock” lines, the Trust addressed this by agreeing to invest in an Inventory Management System. In preparation for this shift change in the management of goods we realised the importance of a review of the current service in order to help us understand what and how we needed to change.

Jackie spent time across our three sites, meeting staff who work in all aspects of the Supply Chain. Her report highlighted many issues, some that we were aware of and others that came as a bit of a surprise! The report was excellent and offered candid analysis and sensible recommendations. Jackie is clearly very knowledgeable in her field and was able to offer great insight from years of previous experience both within the NHS and industry. She demonstrated an excellent understanding of all areas of the supply chain, common sense and a structured approach both to the review and the report. I would heartily recommend Jackie’s services.’

Sarah Bullen, Project Buyer – Clinical, Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

‘Jackie recently delivered a Supply Chain Management Training Course for us. Everyone got such a lot out of it, it was pitched just right with everyone feeling comfortable enough to get involved and it challenged us to think.’

Alan Hoskins, Director of Procurement & Commercial Services, South of England Procurement Services & Chief Officer of the HCSA

‘I worked with Jackie for over 10 years and watched her build a disparate group of individuals into a highly skilled and knowledgeable award-winning team. Her enthusiasm, supply chain expertise and drive for change has been recognised widely by peers and experts in her field. She has been an ambassador for the organisation and presented nationally and internationally on numerous occasions with enormous success. I am delighted to have supported and been part of Jackie’s development and I look forward to working with her again in the future.’

Richard Ward, Procurement Transformation Lead, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust

‘As part of our Scan 4 Safety Readiness Assessment Jackie completed a detailed review of inventory management throughout the organisation. With her knowledge and experience Jackie delivered a professional review with position statement and recommendations which we are using to transform our Supply Chain.’

Rob Drag, Scan4Safety Programme Manager, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

‘Jackie has been instrumental in the transformation of our supply chain management team. Her wealth of experience, supportive and thorough approach and commitment to improve has provided us with a fresh perspective, forcing us to re-evaluate our existing processes and driving significant improvements across our department and the Trust. ‘

Rob Webb, Director of Procurement and Commercial Services, Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

‘Jackie is hugely respected at a national level as an expert in delivering best practice in Healthcare supply chain and inventory management and uniquely experienced in the implementation of GS1 standards in the NHS. Her style and ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels is second to none. That’s why we sought out her expertise to help us drive supply chain transformation at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. We’ve been really pleased with the results to date and are looking forward to continuing working with Jackie in the future.’
